Assahra Al Maghribiya: The election of the Vice Chairman of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs took place the day before yesterday, Thursday, in Rabat without incidence. Ballot was based on relative majority hence not giving space to potential friction. Members left satisfied including successful candidates, losers and or voting members. 
 



"Assahra Al Maghribiya" knew that 13 members applied for the posts of the nine vice presidents. Khaddad Al Moussaoui from Errguibat Ouled Moussa tribe won the elections (20 votes), followed by Hassan Al Darham Ba Amrane tribe (18 votes), Abdelaziz Aba, from Ouled Tidrarine tribe(17), Omar Bouida from Ait Lahcen tribe (16 votes), Braika Zerouali, from Azerkine tribe, Hasna El Cherif from Errguibat Bouihat tribe, Kalthoum Khayyat, who came back to the homeland, Ali Salem Chakkaf from Ouled Dilem tribe, Othman Alia from Ait Oussi tribe.

The elections produced representation of the three southern provinces of the Council. Accordingly, Baraika Zarouali, Khaddad Moussaoui, Kalthoum Khayyat and Hassan Darham represent Boujdour Saguia el-Hamra; Omar Bouida, Hasna Cherif, Othman Alia (Assa) represent Guelmime Smara; Ali Salem Chakkaf Dakhla Oued Eddahab. Sources from the Council said that 139 members voted one member (Ahmed Mghizlat) was absent because of illness and 7 votes were null.
 

the loosers were Hourmatalah Mohammed Al Amine (Ouled Dilem), Dr. Hmadnah Ould Ahmed Salek Ould Dahmane (Ait Moussa), Ali And Mbrak Tamek (Ait Oussa) and Abdallah Dabda (Larousiine).

Elections began yesterday afternoon at four o'clock at the Kingdom’s Academy, chaired by the Council’s chairman Khalihenna Ould Errachid and the Council’s Secretary General Maoulainaine Ben Khalihenna. In his opening speech, Ould Errachid expressed his readiness to help every member that considers himself able to participate in the Council. Sources stated that elections were secret which made the results satisfactory since it was carried out democratically.

The Council’s chairman said it was the best way to elect a bureau which assumes its responsibilities with dedication and patriotism. Ould Errachid confirmed that, after the formation of the council’s structures, there is no longer any justification for separation, stressing that the proposal of His Majesty the King to adopt an autonomy system for the Southern provinces within the framework of Moroccan sovereignty is the best solution which guarantees to all participation in political, economic and social affairs of the region. He said it was a historic decision that would find a final solution to the Sahara problem.

The Chair of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs said that the Council’s rules of procedure were discussed in a democratic and transparent manner, allowing the Council to adopt unanimously the law of procedure, after the introduction of some amendments. The works of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs started last Tuesday a few days after the appointment his new members by His Majesty King Mohammed VI during a historic visit to the southern regions.
