Once victims of deceptive and malicious propaganda, South American countries have in recent years become more aware than ever that the victimizing discourse of Polisario and its Algerian mentor is devoid of truth and of any political or historical logic.

Across the entire subcontinent, forms of rejection of separatist thesis have multiplied, taking either the form of a withdrawal of recognition of RASD or an unequivocal affirmation of support for the Moroccan autonomy proposal for the southern provinces.

Diplomatic feats achieved in particular thanks to an enlightened royal vision in terms of strengthening and diversifying multilateral cooperation.

The last setback suffered by Polisario was signed by Bolivia, which decided, on January 20, to suspend its recognition of the puppet Republic and “cease all links” with the bogus entity with obsolete discourse.

Bolivia also affirmed that it will adopt the principle of “constructive neutrality” with regard to the artificial conflict around the Moroccan Sahara and will henceforth work to support the efforts made within the UN framework with a view to '' a just, lasting and mutually acceptable political solution, in accordance with UN principles and objectives.

Further south, in Paraguay, the country’s parliament unanimously adopted a new resolution reaffirming support for the Moroccan initiative within the framework of the Kingdom’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The text, which constitutes a new achievement for the national cause, expresses the adherence of Paraguayan legislators to the UN parameters to reach a solution to the dispute over the Moroccan Sahara which can only be political, realistic, pragmatic, lasting and based on compromise, designating Algeria as a party to the dispute.

Same story in Brazil, the beating heart of South America and a very influential country in the region, where support for the Moroccan autonomy initiative in the Sahara has only been renewed, through the adoption by the Senate, on September 4 by a large majority, of a motion in favor of the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of the Kingdom.

The Senate Speaker, Davi Alcolumbre, who had received in June 2019 the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad, Nasser Bourita, expressed to the Brazilian Minister of External Relations, Ernesto Araujo, the will of the representatives of the Brazilian people to support Morocco in its legitimate right of sovereignty over all its territories.

Through all the capitals of South American countries, apart from the ideologies and political systems in place, Morocco continues to win its cause and recognition for its efforts for peace and justice.

In the process, the Kingdom obtained the status of observer member within the Andean Community of Nations (CAN), during the 20th meeting of the Andean Presidential Council held recently in Bogotá, Colombia.

This status granted to the Kingdom, as the first Arab and African country, reinforces its position as a privileged interlocutor in the Latin American region.

In addition, the Kingdom already sits as an observer member in nine other Latin American organizations, with a parliamentary, political and economic vocation.

In Uruguay, the new president, Luis Alberto Lacalle Pou expressed, at the beginning of last March in Montevideo, his desire to raise the level of cooperation relations with Morocco, on the occasion of the reception of the president of the Chamber of Councilors, Hakim Benchamach, who represented HM King Mohammed VI at the investiture ceremony of the new head of state.

As for relations with Colombia, the 4th largest economic power in Latin America, they have continued to consolidate and develop in all areas for the benefit of the peoples of both countries.

Colombia, which was among the first countries in the region to withdraw its recognition of RASD by siding with international legality, constantly expresses its support for the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco to reach a political, realistic solution to the regional dispute around the Moroccan Sahara.

Through the voice of its Deputy Minister of Multilateral Affairs, Adriana Mejia Hernandez, who visited Morocco last February, Colombia reiterated its support for Morocco's position in order to reach a solution to the Sahara issue. In June 2019, the South American country, via its former Minister of External Relations, Carlos Holmes Trujillo, welcomed the Moroccan proposal for the southern provinces, during the working visit he made to the Kingdom with a message from President Iván Duque Marquez to HM the King.

The Colombian Congress, all political components combined, has adopted in recent years a series of resolutions unequivocally supporting the territorial integrity of the Kingdom and welcoming Morocco's proposal for autonomy for its southern provinces.

In addition, relations with Ecuador have experienced unprecedented dynamics thanks to the tireless action of Moroccan diplomacy, under the leadership of the Sovereign.

For the first time in the history of bilateral relations, a senior Ecuadorian official,  former Deputy Minister of External Relations, Andrés Terán, paid, last September, a working visit to the Kingdom, where he praised Morocco's serious and credible efforts to reach a realistic and compromise solution to the Sahara issue.

This new position of Quito vis-à-vis the territorial integrity of Morocco constitutes a victory for the Kingdom, knowing that this country was one of the main supporters of the separatists in the region.

In terms of parliamentary diplomacy, Mr. Benchamach paid a visit to Ecuador in June 2019, at the head of a parliamentary delegation, to this Andean country which was briefed on the reality of the artificial conflict around the Moroccan Sahara.

Last January an announcement was made by the Ecuadorian National Assembly to create the first Ecuador-Morocco interparliamentary friendship group.

The rich cooperation between Morocco and Chile was marked this year by intense activities: participation of Morocco in the  12th National Congress of the Unitary Central of Chile Workers (CUT), signing of an agreement cooperation between the Mohammed VI Center for the Dialogue of Civilizations and University of La Frontera, but also the constitution of the Latin America-Africa Alliance Foundation for the 21st Century and the intensification of exchanges between the parliamentary institutions of the two countries.

Relations between Morocco and Argentina are also experiencing a sustained dynamic, which continues to strengthen thanks to the will of the two countries to put all their potential at the service of co-development, multidimensional cooperation and better coordination within international forums.

The same spirit imprints the cooperation ties between the Kingdom and Peru, the two countries having reaffirmed their desire to raise the level of bilateral partnership and to broaden its range, within the framework of the impetus given to the bilateral relations through the historic visit of HM King Mohammed VI to Peru in 2004.

Peru was one of the first countries to suspend relations with the RASD, an entity that no longer finds refuge in a continent where separatists are now locked into a space that no longer appeals to anyone.-News on Western Sahara issue / Corcas-
