The coronavirus contamination (Covid-19) has been reset to zero in the Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra region, after all those infected with the virus have recovered.

"All the people affected by the coronavirus, who were in isolation at the Moulay El Hassan Ben El Mehdi regional hospital center, have recovered," announced regional director of health Ali El Haouari.

The Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra region had four cases of covid-19 contamination, all from the province of Boujdour.

They were admitted to the isolation unit of the Laayoune regional hospital and there was no cause for concern.

A first patient, in this case a doctor, left this establishment last Friday, followed two days later by a second patient, a woman in her 50s, who had successfully completed her treatment and whose medical analyzes have shown that she has fully recovered.

The last two patients, a couple who have recovered from the illness, left hospital early Tuesday afternoon and will reach the family home in Boujdour by ambulance.

With tears in their eyes, they expressed their heartfelt thanks to HM King Mohammed VI for his high benevolence towards the patients of Covid-19 and for the high instructions that the Sovereign lavished on the government for the mobilization of all means to curb the transmission of the virus.

The two patients also expressed their thanks to the medical staff of the regional hospital of Laâyoune who took care of their health for several days until their complete recovery, urging their compatriots to respect the prevention measures decided by the public authorities as part of the state of health emergency.

For his part, the regional director of health expressed his “consideration” to local authorities and elected councils for their support for the efforts carried out to stem the spread of the pandemic.

He also paid tribute to the medical staff for their constant mobilization and their “selflessness” with a view to providing the necessary care to patients affected by this virus, in particular military medicine which came to lend a hand to the medical human resources of the hospital.

Moulay El Hassan Ben El Mehdi.Mr. El Houari finally invited the population of the region to respect the preventive measures decreed by the competent authorities and to comply with hygiene rules “in order to consolidate the gains made in this region in the fight against this pandemic” .
