Saadani Maoulainine, who is also representative in North Africa of the Organization for Communication in Africa and for the Promotion of International Economic Cooperation (OCAPROCE International), spoke at the general debate on point 3 on the agenda concerning the children's rights.
“Children's rights are a set of legal standards which protect people up to a certain age. All children's rights are inalienable, and no one should violate them," said the human rights activist.
She added that her organization is "concerned about the plight of thousands of children in different parts of the world where one child dies every minute of hunger and lack of basic food and others from malnutrition".
Saadani Maoulainine in particular alerts the Council to the "alarming situation from which children are suffering", in general and situation of "Sahrawi children living in the Tindouf camps who were forced to live in very difficult inhospitable conditions during more than four decades
These children are "suffering from serious malnutrition that leads to many health problems and high rates of infant mortality and morbidity due to embezzlement of humanitarian aid by Polisario leaders ”
The OCAPROCE representative indicates that children “continue to suffer from problems of frustration, indoctrination and systematic manipulation through projects such as the so-called peace vacations”, the aim of which is in reality “ create a feeling of hatred ”.
She concluded by saying that the HRC should “ask Polisario leaders to respect the promotion and protection of children rights and reach a peaceful and just solution which is autonomy proposed by the Kingdom of Morocco, to ensure a more promising future and a happy childhood for these children ”.
