The Central African Republic on Thursday morning inaugurated a consulate general in the southern city of Laayoune.

The opening ceremony was chaired by minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans abroad, Nasser Bourita, and his Central African counterpart Sylvie Baïpo-Temon.

This is the fifth diplomatic representation inaugurated in Laayoune, after the Honorary Consulate of Côte d'Ivoire, opened last June, the Consulate General of the Union of the Comoros (December), as well as Gabon’s Consulate General, inaugurated last week.

Earlier in the morning, Bourita had chaired with his Santomean counterpart the opening ceremony of the Consulate General of Sao Tome and Principe in Laayoune.
