In a joint statement issued on the occasion of the official visit paid by the Moroccan Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister, Nasser Bourita, Chile voiced its "support for the efforts of the UN Secretary-General and his Personal Envoy, the serious efforts of Morocco as well as the autonomy plan with a view to reaching a realistic, viable and lasting political solution" to the Sahara issue.
On this occasion, Bourita briefed Chilean senior officials on the latest developments of the regional dispute over the Sahara issue and highlighted the growing support of the international community for Morocco's autonomy initiative, which represents the basis of a realistic, serious and credible solution as defined by the latest United Nations Security Council resolutions.
Bourita started on Friday an official visit to Chile, during which he held talks with several Chilean senior officials.
