Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation Josep Borrell underlined, on Thursday in Rabat, that his country defends the centrality of the United Nations to reach a political solution to the Sahara issue as part of the UNSC relevant resolutions.

Spain defends the centrality of the United Nations and supports efforts by the UN Secretary General and his personal envoy to reach a political solution as part of relevant resolutions by the UN security council, said Borrell in a joint press briefing with foreign minister Nasser Bourita.

The position of Spain on the Sahara issue is precise and unwavering, he said, noting that this is a State's position which has not changed.

Borrell is part of the delegation accompanying King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia in their official visit to Morocco at the invitation of HM King Mohammed VI.
