The chairman of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs, met Wednesday, December 05, 2018, with Hugo Quiroz Vallejo, Speaker of the Parliament of the Andean Group, who is on a working visit December 4-10 in the Kingdom.


During this meeting attended by Dr. Maouelainin Ben Khallihenna Maouelainin, Secretary General of the Council, Khaddad El Moussaoui, Vice-chairman and Mr. Ahmed Mghizlat, member, Khalihenna Ould Errachid discussed with his host latest developments in the Sahara issue. 

In particular, he explained, the proponents of the current UN attempt to revive the political negotiation process between the parties by the round table that is taking place in Geneva, today and tomorrow, under the leadership of the Personal Envoy Horst Köhler who invited Morocco, Algeria, the Polisario Front and Mauritania to an informal meeting to this effect. 

Corcas head highlighted the relevance of the Moroccan solution for the settlement of this conflict, in this case granting autonomy to the Sahara region, the text of which was formulated by Saharawis, represented by the Royal Advisory Council on Saharan Affairs, subsequently presented by the Kingdom to the United Nations in 2007, as a courageous and just initiative to break the stillness of the situation since the cease-fire in 1991.
