The Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (Corcas), represented by Moulay Ahmed Mghizlat, participated in the Moroccan delegation to the presentation of Morocco's national report on the 3rd cycle of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR), which took place on 2 May 2017 in Geneva.

This review provided an opportunity for the Kingdom of Morocco to present its experience and advances in the promotion and protection of human rights throughout the country, including the southern provinces.

Several delegations welcomed the importance of the efforts made by the Kingdom to promote and defend human rights, in particular in the Saharan provinces.

They noted the relevance of the actions taken by national institutions in defending human rights in the Moroccan Sahara, particularly the regional commissions in Laayoune and Dakhla of the National Council for Human Rights (CNDH), which the UN Security Council Has recognized and welcomed in all these resolutions since 2011.
