The chairman of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (CORCAS), Mr. Khalihenna Ould Errachid, received on Wednesday in Rabat, at the end of the 2007 Council's ordinary session, Mrs Anneli Botha chief researcher of the South African Institute “African Security Analysis”.

During this meeting, CORCAS chairman explained the Council’s missions and objectives which aim at promoting general reconciliation between All Sahrawis, inside and outside the Kingdom of Morocco.

The CORCAS, said Mr. Khalihenna Ould Errachid, was asked by SM King Mohammed VI to elaborate an autonomy project for the southern provinces as a Moroccan alternative to all the steps which were taken up to now for the settlement of the Sahara issue and the contribution to the socio-economic development of the Kingdoms’ region.

Autonomy project, proposed by Morocco, is the only alternative for the definitive settlement of the Sahara issue which is to satisfy all parties, he specified, adding that Sahrawis will thus be able to handle their own political, social, economic and cultural affairs.

This working session was attended by Corcas Secretary General Mr. Maouelainin Maouelainin Ben Khalihenna.
