This interview was conducted in the presence of CORCAS Secretary General, Mr. Maouelainin Ben Khalihanna Maouelainin and close associates of Mr. Christopher Ross.
Previously, the personal envoy of UN Secretary General for the Sahara had held discussions with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Mr. Taib Fassi Fihri, the interior minister, Chakib Benmoussa, and Secretary General of the Arab Maghreb Union (UMA), Mr. Habib Ben Yahya.
Following successive discussions in Algiers, Tindouf, Nouakchott and Rabat, the road is now open for the first informal meeting whose date and venue will be fixed soon, said the personal envoy of the UN SG for the Sahara, followings these talks.
"I am optimistic about this first informal meeting, which I am sure, will make a significant contribution to the search for a resolution to the conflict that has already lasted too long and interferes with the works to be done at the regional integration, "said Ross.
According to the personal envoy of UN Secretary-General, "this second tour in the region aims at applying the latest Security Council resolution, taking into account the outcome of the negotiations so far carried out and preparing informal meetings endorsed by the Security Council in preparation for a fifth round of negotiations. "
The personal envoy of UN Secretary-General arrived Saturday afternoon in Morocco, as part of a tour in the region including Algiers, Tindouf and Nouakchott.
